Excerpt #1:
The man behind the wheel rolled down the passenger window. "Get in!" he shouted, and pushed open the passenger door.
Gina stooped down and peered inside. She recognized the man from having seen him around the base from time to time. For the life of her she could'nt remember his name.
"C'mon! You'll catch pneumonia out there. Get in. I won't bite."
Excerpt #2:
Wolfgang opened the furnace. The gold inside the crucible had finally melted into a precious luminous pool. He quickly removed it from the oven and carried the crucible over to another work bench. Carefully, he poured the molten metal into a hollow casting made from silica and clay. It was an exact replica of a 45 cubic inch piston he had obtained months earlier. Once the metal cooled, Wolf shook the casting from the mold. He chiseled crags and risers onto the dirt floor. The parting lines would be removed next and then the surface of the casting would be painted. No one would ever suspect that the painted motorcycle piston was actually solid gold.
